Wes Tuttle Foundation Mission
Wes Tuttle had a passion for encouraging young kids to get on the ice and get excited about the game he played and loved. Beyond the game though, he quietly helped so many behind the scenes without any fanfare. He always put the person first and did the right thing for them even when nobody was watching. That is what made Wes Tuttle so beloved by all that knew him.
The mission of the Wes Tuttle Foundation is simple: To continue the legacy of Wes, encouraging kids to experience the great game of hockey and helping those in need, focusing on those involved in the game of hockey and those individuals, activities and organizations in need, with a primary focus on the town of Marlborough and the surrounding areas throughout New England.
Examples of those the Foundation is seeking to help include: individuals and families in need; activities aimed at increasing the interest in ice hockey, such as learn-to-skate programs; activities aimed at developing hockey players and fostering their future success; other youth organizations such as Boys and Girls clubs; and other charitable organizations with similar purpose; projects or activities that benefit people, with a focus on the City of Marlborough, MA, surrounding municipalities and, in general those in New England.
About Wes Tuttle
Born on January 24, 1958, Wes Tuttle grew up in Marlboro MA. From an early age, and throughout his life, his two passions were hockey and helping others. He played hockey for his town and Marlboro High, and went on to play Juniors in Canada before having to give it up competitively due to a knee injury. Throughout his life, he never strayed from his passion for hockey, first at the Navin Arena as Assistant Manager, and then as the General Manager of the New England Sports Center (NESC) in Marlboro from it's opening in 1994 until his untimely death on September 19, 2020. His passing left a major void in the Massachusetts hockey scene.
His positions managing the Navin Area and New England SportsCenter gave him platforms for contributing to the growth of hockey in Massachusetts and beyond, and he took full advantage of it! He was a strong, avid and active supporter of Mass Hockey and the hockey community as a whole. He was always promoting the game of hockey, supporting the Mass Hockey initiatives and activities and proposing means and activities to grow the sport. You would invariably find him at NESC, excited about the coming events, and planning and implementing activities that would grow the sport, encouraging youngsters and their families to experience the game he loved, introducing players to the role of refereeing and supporting the Mass Hockey Referee training and certification program. He was on the phone constantly, promoting the game he loved.
That, however, is not the only thing that Wes will be remembered for by all that knew him. In addition to being all about the game of hockey, he was also about helping the people that made up the hockey community. Beyond the game, he quietly helped so many behind the scenes without any fanfare. He always put the person first and did the right thing for them even when nobody was watching. That is what made Wes Tuttle so beloved by all that knew him.
